Natural Skincare Tips
At Naturology, our skincare is all about natural products (hence the name but we didn’t need to tell you that, you knew!) We use natural plant extracts, fruit extracts and essential oils and all our products are at least 94% natural, any additional ingredients are completely non-harmful for your skin. You won’t find Phthalates, Sulphate, Parabens, Formaldehyde or other nasty, dangerous chemicals in our products – that is our promise to you. All of our products have been rigorously tested and do what they say on the tin (or bottle!)
Obviously there is plenty of goodness derived from herbs, plants, fruit and vegetables and these are in the form of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which help skin retain a youthful appearance. Equally all of these help the body in the fight against free radicals (the damage that comes from pollution, smoking, industrial fumes, petrol fumes and the sun). Bearing all of that in mind we thought you would enjoy some more natural skincare tips (apart from our products). There’s probably lots of food or fruit that you have in your kitchen which you could turn into a rich fortifying face mask for example.
So apart from using natural skincare from us (cleansing, toning and moisturising not to mention our eye creams and serums) what can you do to boost a natural skincare regime and reap the benefits? Before we launch into some natural skincare tips, make sure your skincare really is natural. Look at product labels because the words natural and all natural are not regulated terms. Ditch anything with fragrance or “parfum” because these are artificial and will often contain phthalates. Phthalates can trigger allergies and other health issues. Look at the packaging and choose recyclable packaging too! Drink water! It’s the best natural skincare tip there is – 2 litres a day ensures healthy, hydrated and beautiful skin and it clear up spots too. Finally, as we said, in addition to your Naturology products – make your own! Here are a few ideas:
To revitalise: Honey Face Mask
Whip up a gorgeously soothing facemask with two tablespoons of honey and some coconut oil. Mix it together and smooth on your face. Pop a couple of cool, cucumber slices on your eyes and rest for 10 minutes to allow the coconut oil to soften skin and honey to infuse it with goodness. Rinse off, pat dry and finish with our Naturology Stem Cell Active Youth Moisturiser – your skin will look radiant.
To refresh: Yoghurt Face Mask
Mix up 50ml of yoghurt with 50ml of honey and some crushed cucumber. Apply this to your face, add cucumber slices to your eyes and rest for 10 minutes before rinsing off to reveal refreshed, dewy, smooth skin.
To Soften and Hydrate Skin: Coconut Oil
Slather on some coconut oil, great for your face and your body! Don’t invest in expensive body lotions – try this (sparingly) and your skin will feel soft, smooth and very silky.
To Exfoliate: Sugar and Oil
Try sugar mixed with coconut oil or olive oil. Mix it together to form a paste and rub over your face (and body) to slough off old skin cells. You can also mix oil with baking soda too – it gets the same job done!
For Acne Sufferers: Yoghurt and Lemon
Try blending yoghurt and lemon to fade acne marks. Mix 50ml of yoghurt with two tablespoons of lemon juice and smooth it over your face for 15 minutes. Repeat this every week to get maximum benefit and to start seeing a difference.
To Banish Blackheads
Use a few drops of raw honey on a wedge of lemon and rub this all over your face. Leave it on your face for a few minutes then rinse with cool water to draw out the dirt from blackheads.
Additionally, treat your skin to some daily supplements to ensure its natural beauty radiates, here are some of the best foods you can give your skin:
- Dark Berries, one or two servings a day is enough. Raspberries, blueberries and blackberries are full of antioxidants
- Spinach, Kale, Broccoli are also full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to boost skin
- Omega 3 Fatty acids, take one capsule a day for hydration and to lock in moisture. It also is an aid to clear, spot-free skin and an anti-inflammatory
- Evening Primrose oil, this balances hormones and helps create a clear, radiant skin
- Whey Protein which is great for building good skin
- Avocado – packed full of vitamins E, D and A
If you introduce the above tips to your skincare routine and use Naturology your skin will look the best it has ever looked – look out for the compliments, they’re coming your way!
